Own managed arrival to Bernkastel-Kues
Your COMBINED cycling and hiking holiday begins in Bernkastel-Kues. After your arrival, take a visit to the medieval old town and stroll through the narrow streets. To get in the mood, hike the Bernkasteler Bärensteig, a 6.5 km circular hiking trail, today. You will be rewarded with wonderful views of the Moselle town and Landshut Castle.
Bernkastel-Kues to Zell(Mosel)
You cycle down the Moselle and reach the former Machern monastery, where an excellent beer is brewed today. After visiting the monastery, continue on and pass through the Art Nouveau town of Traben-Trarbach. In the area of the Zeller Black Cat you should interrupt your bike tour on the Moselle cycle path to try the famous drop made from this vineyard.
Zell(Mosel) to Cochem
Today's stage of the Moselle cycle path takes you to the via ferrata on the Calmont, the steepest single vineyard in Europe. Around noon you can rest with a sweet or savory break before you go up the vineyards again and enjoy the view over the Sleeping Beauty town of Beilstein from Metternich Castle. Then you continue to your overnight stay in Cochem. Stroll through the little streets or to the impressive Reichsburg.
Cochem to Treis-Karden
This hiking stage of the Moselsteig Trail is quite demanding and requires good surefootedness. It goes up and down in the Dortebach valley. You can overcome the first meters of altitude with a cable car and reach the Pinnerkreuz. You will walk past a small waterfall and if you are lucky you will see the native Apollo butterfly here. You can get back to Cochem by ship or train (not included in the tour price).
Cochem to Beilstein
During this Moselsteig stage you will find out how tedious the work of the winegrowers is on the steep slopes. You hike over the Moselkrampen with its paths and stairs to Beilstein and overcome mountain heights, small streams and slopes several times. You can get back to Cochem by ship or train (not included in the tour price).
