Own managed arrival to Trier
Arrive early as there is a lot to explore. You can experience 2000 years of history up close in the middle of the old buildings and sights. You start your cycling holiday on the main market in Trier with a welcome drink at the winemaker. Afterwards there is enough time for an extensive city tour or a small boat tour on the Moselle, starting at the Zurlaubener Ufer. Here on the banks of the Moselle, you can end the first evening relaxing in one of the small parlors or restaurants.
Trier to Piesport
Your bike tour on the Moselle cycle path begins with a series of things that bear witness to a long history of viticulture. Those interested can visit the reconstructed foundation walls of Villa Rustica in Mehring or the replica of a Roman wine ship that is anchored in Neumagen-Dhron. It's not far to Piesport, your overnight stay.
Piesport to Traben-Trarbach
The Moselle cycle path takes you via Brauneberg with its old walnut avenue to Bernkastel-Kues. A city that looks like a half-timbered museum. The path to Kröv leads you below the impressive Hochmosel bridge. You shouldn't miss a glass from the famous "Kröver Nacktarsch" vineyard. The Art Nouveau town of Traben-Trarbach is worth a look before you spend the night here.
Traben-Trarbach to Cochem
Your stage takes you through the area of the »Schwarzen Katz«, the world-famous vineyard in Zell. Rest your tired cyclist legs during a relaxed picnic on the banks of the Moselle. Passing the Sleeping Beauty village of Beilstein, the Moselle cycle path takes you to the Moselle town of Cochem with its long Moselle promenade and the late-Gothic Reichsburg.
Cochem to Koblenz
You cycle along the Moselle terraces to Moselkern. You should plan a detour from here to the fairytale Eltz Castle. In the afternoon, past small winegrowing villages, the Moselle cycle path takes you to the Deutsches Eck, where the Moselle and Rhine flow together. Explore the area around the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress or stroll through the old streets of the historic city.
