Hiking trail: Moselsteig stages 11 to 14, Bernkastel-Kues - Ürzig - Traben-Trarbach - Reil - Zell
On this Moselsteig hike you will experience former monasteries, diverse architecture, medieval castles and well-known vineyards.
DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO BERNKASTEL-KUES
Your hiking holiday begins in Bernkastel-Kues. Stroll through the medieval city. In the afternoon you will be greeted by the confectioner with a good cup of coffee and handmade chocolates.
DAY 2: MOSELSTEIG STAGE 11 | BERNKASTEL-KUES TO ÜRZIG | 17 KM | Ø 5.5 HOURS
At the beginning steadily uphill you get on this stage of the Moselsteig from Bernkastel-Kues over the slope edges with fantastic views of the Moselle to Ürzig. On the way you can learn something about types of fruit and vegetables in the variety garden in Zeltingen-Rachtig. Marvel at the high Moselle crossing and take a break with a hiking feast in the Machern Cistercian convent with its own brewery.
DAY 3: MOSELSTEIG STAGE 12 | ÜRZIG TO TRABEN-TRARBACH | 15 KM | Ø 5 HOURS
You leave the half-timbered village of Ürzig and walk past the oldest sundial in the Moselle valley to the castle hill. From here you have a far-reaching view of the Wittlich Valley and the Hunsrück. The Moselsteig Trail continues over the slate nature trail in Kröv and the old Mont Royal fortress to the Art Nouveau town of Traben-Trarbach.
DAY 4: MOSELSTEIG STAGE 13 | TRABEN-TRARBACH TO REIL | 15 KM | Ø 5 HOURS
The Moselsteig Trail takes you up steep serpentines to the Grevenburg ruins. You take a last look at Traben-Trarbach before you get to Enkirch with its many half-timbered houses. In your stage destination, Reil, rustic wine cellars and the famous Reiler wine from the hot stone await you.
DAY 5: MOSELSTEIG STAGE 14 | REIL TO ZELL | 13 KM | Ø 4 HOURS
The Moselsteig follows the traces of the old cannon railway and reaches the Prinzenkopf with its observation tower, from where you can see the Moselle several times. A loop in the nature trail and stairs take you to the Marienburg - a former Augustinian convent. Once in Zell, you can taste the wine from the famous Zeller Schwarze Katz vineyard and let the evening fade away comfortably.
DAY 6: DEPARTURE FROM ZELL
Your hiking holiday on the Moselsteig is over. You leave Zell and take many impressions with you from your enjoyable hiking tour.
