Own managed arrival to Bernkastel-Kues
Note: Arrival by car necessary
You travel to Bernkastel-Kues and thus to one of the oldest wine-growing regions in Germany. Stroll through the small alleys and marvel at the fairytale-like backdrop with the ancient half-timbered houses. Visit the Viticulture Museum and learn about the work of winemakers. In the cylinder house museum you will see grandiose oldtimers and will be transported back to the 50s and 60s. The first day of your hiking holiday on the Moselle is rounded off with a dinner in the restaurant of the cylinder house museum.
Side Jump Moseltalschanzen
You start the ascent at Graacher Tor up to a forest tavern. From there you hike through a wooded area to the Graacher Schanzen, remains of a defensive system from the 18th century. After about 500 meters, your way down into the Moselle valley to the Art Nouveau town of Traben-Trarbach begins. If you want, you can take the boat back from here in a relaxed manner. The very active follow the approximately 9 km long remainder of this Moselsteig Trail side jump to Bernkastel-Kues.
Side Jump Bernkasteler Bärensteig
An archbishop of Trier once had an adventure with a bear, from which the name of the city Bernkastel and thus this Moselsteig Trail side jump is derived. You hike over a few inclines and serpentines through Bernkasteler Schweiz, which accompanies you with the Tiefenbach. The Bresgenruh lookout point is steeply above a small waterfall. In between, you can enjoy fantastic views again and again during your hike on the side jump. Even if the hike is quite short, it still requires a lot of stamina. The day ends with a Moselle evening with wine tasting.
