DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO BERNKASTEL-KUES
Travel comfortably to the medieval town of Bernkastel-Kues, which is located in one of the oldest wine regions in Germany. Here you can visit the modern and multimedia wine museum. If this visit whet your appetite for wine, you are welcome to do a wine tasting in one of the largest wine shops for Moselle Riesling. Visit the cylinder house classic car museum. Immerse yourself in the 50s and 60s and stroll through authentically prepared streets, past a corner shop. A restaurant invites you to linger and rounds off your day tasty.
DAY 2: CYCLING TOUR BERNKASTEL-KUES TO PIESPORT AND BACK | 40 KM
Bernkastel-Kues is the ideal starting point for exploring the Middle Moselle. Today you start up the Moselle to Piesport. Here is one of the largest Roman wine presses north of the Alps and the "Piesporter Goldtröpfchen" is a well-known wine location. Your way takes you on the other side of the Moselle back to Bernkastel-Kues. In the afternoon, discover the cozy town center with the historic half-timbered houses and narrow streets that lead past the houses. At the end of the day there is a Moselle evening with wine tasting at the winemaker.
DAY 3: CYCLING TOUR DAUN TO BERNKASTEL-KUES | 55 KM
After you have been brought to Daun, your bike tour begins in the Vulkaneifel. Along the maars, which are refreshing bathing lakes in summer, you cycle on the old railway line towards the Moselle. The path leads you through illuminated tunnels and over viaducts to wonderful viewpoints. On the way you can fortify yourself on a winery with a hearty snack and a refreshing drink. After this break you roll back comfortably into the Moselle valley.
DAY 4: DEPARTURE FROM BERNKASTEL-KUES
During your pleasure & wine tour around Bernkastel-Kues you had plenty of time to get to know the Moselle and volcanic landscape. Would you like to see more of the Moselle ?! Then we recommend booking an extension day at the same time.
OUR TIP for the day of departure or an additional day:
BERNKASTEL-KUES TO KRÖV AND BACK | 35 KM
Enjoy a short bike tour along the Moselle from Bernkastel-Kues to Kröv and back. On your stage down the Moselle, you drive along the vineyards and see a number of well-preserved sundials from the Middle Ages. At the former Cistercian monastery of Machern you will discover surprising and interesting things behind the historical walls. You can comfortably cover the way back with the Moselle ship.
