The Route: Perl to Koblenz
The official Moselle Cycle Path covers a distance of 246 km, running from Perl - located at the German-French-Luxembourgish border - all the way to Koblenz. It follows the course of the Moselle River with virtually no gradients and is suitable for cyclists of all experience levels.
The route is consistently well-signposted and leads through picturesque wine towns such as Bernkastel-Kues, Cochem, and Traben-Trarbach.
Topography & Difficulty
The Moselle Cycle Path is considered one of the most beginner-friendly cycle paths in Germany. Its elevation profile is predominantly flat, as the path follows the course of the river.
- Maximum gradient: low (river level)
- Surface: predominantly asphalt; otherwise gravel.
- Suitable for: E-bikes, trekking bikes, touring bikes
- Child or dog trailers: generally possible
Best Time to Visit
The Moselle Cycle Path can be explored from April to October. The most beautiful times are:
- May/June: fresh greenery, less crowded
- September/October: Grape harvest, golden colors
- July-September and holiday weekends: Peak season, book early!
