travel description
Day 1
Own managed arrival to Cochem
The Reichsburg and Cochem in early autumn

Explore the lively old town with its winding, narrow streets or, if you wish, take a boat trip on the Moselle. We wish you a nice first day of your vacation.

Day 2 - Hike Moselsteig Trail Stage 19
Cochem to Treis-Karden
View of Treis-Karden with the Moselle

The first hiking stage begins quite demanding and requires good surefootedness - alternatively, you can also take the cable car up to the Pinnerkreuz. You follow the Moselsteig Trail up and down through beautiful nature in the Dortebach Valley, along vineyards and stream valleys. You walk past a small waterfall and if you are lucky you will come across the native Apollo butterfly or the green lizard. The former Romanesque collegiate church of St. Castor can be found in your stage destination Treis-Karden; popularly also called Moseldom. The building got this surname not least because of the impressive towers that are visible from afar.

Day 3 - Hike Moselsteig Trail Stage 20
Treis-Karden to Moselkern
The famous Eltz Castle

Today's Moselsteig Trail hike leads through stands of boxwood and over rocky paths to a refuge. From here you hike through the wild and romantic forest gorge of the Krailsbach. Safety ropes help with the steep descent over rocks before you reach the Elz Valley on the Müdener Berg with the Kreuzweg chapel. The fairytale Eltz Castle rises up in front of you and invites you to visit. Now it is not far to Moselkern, where you are staying today.

Day 4 - Hike Moselsteig Trail Stage 21
Moselkern to Löf
The Moselsteig logo in the vineyard

It goes up on steep paths. Once at the top, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Moselle and Baybach valleys. The dream path Hatzenporter Laysteig accompanies part of the Moselsteig Trail here. For the very sporty, the Dolling via ferrata attracts with rope-secured passages and ladders. Via the Rabenlay with hut and rest area, you continue to walk to Löf.

Our recommendation
Plan a day of rest here.

Day 5 - Hike Moselsteig Trail Stage 22
Löf to Kobern-Gondorf
View from the Moselsteig Trail to Kobern-Gondorf

A fantastic stage and the former knight's castle Thurant with its twin towers is waiting for you. The hiking trail takes you to the Sieben-Fußfalls-Kreuzweg on the Bleidenberg. The two panorama points Hitzlay and Mönch-Felix-Hütte offer wonderful views. You reach your stage destination Kobern-Gondorf via steep serpentines.

Day 6 - Hike Moselsteig Trail Stage 23
Kobern-Gondorf to Winningen
Panorama view over the Moselle valley near Winningen

Through the Mühltal you follow the trail of the Pawworm to Niederburg, Oberburg and the Matthias Chapel. The Moselsteig Trail leads uphill to the Blumslay viewpoint. Soon you will reach Winningen, one of the picturesque places on the Moselle. The founder of the Audi automobile workshop, August Horch, was born here.

Day 7 - Hike Moselsteig Trail Stage 24
Winningen to Koblenz
The Deutsches Eck with Emperor William monument

This last stage of your hiking holiday leads rather comfortably to Koblenz. Only at the beginning do you have to divide your fitness level over steep paths up to the Domgartenhütte. The Moselsteig Trail ends in Güls, and a beautiful approach path begins here, which ends at the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz.

Day 8
Own managed departure from Koblenz
Ehrenbreitstein Fortress from the Deutschen Eck

Your active journey with many days of hiking now comes to an end in Koblenz. Take the cable car up to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and enjoy the panoramic view from above over the city, the rivers and the surrounding area. After your hiking tour, fortify yourself with a refreshing drink and a snack in the beer garden, café or restaurant. You are welcome to plan rest days in Koblenz or during intermediate stages.

By public transport
Cochem has its own train station, which is centrally located in the city. Most hotels can be reached on foot from here. You can get to the hotels on the outskirts of the city by bus or taxi.

From Koblenz you can easily return home from the centrally located main train station. This can be reached on foot from many hotels. Alternatively, the well-developed public bus network or taxis are also available.

By plane
There are six airports within a radius of approximately 205 km around Cochem and Koblenz - Saarbrücken, Luxembourg, Frankfurt/Hahn, Frankfurt, Cologne-Bonn and Düsseldorf. All airports have rental car locations. Alternatively, we are happy to offer you an airport transfer upon request.

By car / Parking
Cochem and Koblenz are easy to reach by car.

In Cochem, most of our accommodations have a limited number of their own parking spaces. There are sufficient public parking spaces available.

Most of our accommodations in Koblenz have a sufficient number of their own parking spaces or even parking garages. There is also a free public car park a short distance from the city center, as well as centrally located car parks with cheap weekly parking tickets.

Car chauffeur service
Exclusively with us and useful when your home is closer to Koblenz than to Cochem. Save yourself the time-consuming return transfer. More info

general info

Possible start of the journey
For our multi-stage tours, we recommend arriving at the weekend, as experience has shown that availability is then highest.

Holidays Major events
You should book a trip during the holiday weeks, to wine and street festivals or other major events in good time. There may be a surcharge, minimum nights or changes in the program.

Meals Half board Packed lunches
The travel price includes the corresponding rich breakfast for each night of our travel programs. Additional nights and extensions are also included breakfast.

The booking of half board and also packed lunches is possible via the item "Additional services accommodation".

Our tip
Book the packed lunch right away. So you are well equipped during your hikes and independent of the few refreshments at the edge of the trail and their opening hours.

Additional nights Extensions
You can arrive earlier or extend your bike tour afterwards. You can reserve additional nights as a pre- or post-night stay when booking your trip.

Bed tax Guest tax
We would like to point out that some cities levy a culture tax or bed tax. The fees will be collected directly at your accommodation.

List of accommodation
Specific accommodation names are not available prior to a fixed booking. The background to this is the possibility of daily arrival, which for us excludes the purchase of fixed room quotas. In addition, we work together with several accommodation partners per location – always matching the respective theme of the trip and the requirements of the individual booking.

Special food and accommodation
Necessary requests for special dietary or allergy-prone nutrition or physical limitations are communicated to our service partners with the fixed booking without obligation.

Short-term travel requests
Even short-term travel requests require a binding booking, as otherwise availabilities cannot be queried. If the trip is not possible due to a lack of availability, we will provide you with an alternative offer upon request. If you do not wish this, your booking will be canceled free of charge.

Invoice
A booking confirmation / invoice is issued to the travel applicant for each booking. If you are traveling as a group, but would like separate invoices, please make separate bookings, stating a group name. Subsequent splitting of processes and invoices is not technically possible.

Payment
The down payment is 30% of the travel price plus insurance premium (if travel insurance is also taken out) after receipt of the booking confirmation. The remaining payment is due four weeks before the start of the journey. For bookings less than 6 weeks before the start of the journey, the entire travel price is due immediately.

Travel insurance
We recommend that you take out travel insurance including travel cancellation, interruption, rebooking fees and luggage insurance. You can find further information on this under the item "explanations" "Travel Insurance" on our homepage.
